Philipp Bauer's Blog

Hi – I'm Philipp.

A millennial who got to see technology evolve from 233MHz CPUs and MBs of RAM to 32-core 5GHz CPU/GPU chips with 100+ GBs of RAM. From Win 95 to macOS 26. Diablo 1 to Baldur’s Gate 3. Who cut his teeth on the early internet and CSS hacks for Internet Explorer 5. Proud student of an old Linux-head CS teacher who had his students build the fastest line-following robot they could come up with. Also, Linux-head (vampire rules apply?).

Polymath and buccaneer scholar. Was almost convinced to become a teacher after graduating. Conference speaker. Listener. Someone who’d enroll in astrophysics courses if money wasn’t an issue. Never experienced a boring day in his life.

Bratwurst and Mettigel. Jever, but American craft is decent too. Home in the beautiful Ozark mountains.

Worked with too many technologies to list here. Vim and VS Code.

I write about AI, technology, engineering, and the ideas that shape how we build things. By day I work on software where practical engineering meets clear thinking; by night I tinker, read, and try to make sense of what comes next.

If you want to say hello, find me on the LinkedIn or GitHub. I enjoy conversations about product, systems design, and how technology fits into everyday life.

I currently work as a Sr. Software Architect / Developer for CODE Group, speak at conferences, hold online seminars and occasionally write for our print publication, CODE Magazine.

Some of my past work includes:

Previous speaking engagements include:

  • DEVintersection / next GenAI 2025
  • DEVintersection / next GenAI 2024
  • DEVintersection 2023
  • CODE Group’s own State of AI (since 2023)
